IT’S a futuristic plane that’s missing one rather crucial element: windows.
But before you panic at the thought of having to stare at the stained, depressing seat in front of you for the entire trip, know that the view minus the windows would be even more awesome.
The IXION windowless jet, designed by the French aviation company Technicon Design, has been created to help us see more clearly while flying.
The plane would essentially be “transparent”, using cameras fixed to the outside of the plane to capture footage of the view. This would then be screened onto the interior cabin walls, giving a panoramic view of the outside.
The design was created for the National Business Aviation Association show in the US last year, and it has just been short-listed in the International Yacht and Aviation Awards of 2014.
